This special-edition silhouette created by 13-year-old patient-designer Raegan Scheid for the Nike × Doernbecher Children’s Hospital “Freestyle” programme marries athletic heritage with personal story: the pastel pink upper nods to Raegan’s love of beach days, while subtle softball graphics celebrate her passion for the sport. The midsole features wave-like prints evoking seaside movement, and special hang-tags include a tribute to “Blue,” her golden retriever, as well as a tag commemorating the day she was cleared to return to softball after open-heart surgery. As part of the 21st-anniversary Doernbecher Freestyle collection (which has raised over $40 million for the hospital since 2004), this pair not only stands out for its bold visuals but carries purpose in every detail.
